Below, you can find schedules and programs from previous New Music Gatherings.
NMG2021 was hosted by the St. Paul Downtown Alliance in collaboration with the American Composers Forum and New Music USA. NMG2021 featured three days of in-person events in downtown St. Paul, along with simultaneous livestreams and several days of online events throughout the following week. Our keynote speaker was Garrett McQueen and our headlining performers were Recap, Queen Drea, and Turning Jewels Into Water.
NMG2020 was hosted jointly by Portland State University, Third Angle New Music, and Fear No Music. NMG2020 transitioned to being a fully online event, held over the course of the first two weeks of June, 2020. Our keynote speaker was Nathalie Joachim. Our headlining performers were Seth Parker Woods, Third Coast Percussion, and Flutronix. The theme of NMG2020 was “Local Action.”
NMG2018 was hosted by Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Our keynote speaker was Helga Davis. Our headlining performers were JACK Quartet, Pamela Z, and Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble. The theme of NMG2018 was "Accessibility."
NMG2017 was hosted by Bowling Green State University. Our keynote speaker was Steven Schick. Our headlining performers were Steven Schick, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble. The theme of NMG2017 was "Support."
NMG2016 was hosted by The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Our keynote speaker was Marin Alsop and our headlining performers were Sō Percussion, Kathleen Supové, Lunar Ensemble, and Sonar new music ensemble. The theme of NMG2016 was "Communities."
Our first New Music Gathering in 2015 was hosted by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Our keynote speaker was Claire Chase and our headlining performers were Claire Chase, Kronos Quartet, Wu Man, Sarah Cahill, and The Living Earth Show. The theme of NMG 2015 was "Artist Led Ensembles.
